Rasmussen Alterna FireGlitter is a great accent feature element for a fireplace or outdoor fire pit. Even without the flicker of a fire this fire glass sparkles. Nestle FireGlitter on top of burner pan filled with sand or volcanic ash and add Fireballs or FireStones to complete the contemporary look.
When installing glass in a CS or CXF burner completely fill the burner pan with the glass, completely filling the pan underneath and above the baffle plate. FireGlitter is tempered for long-term heat consumption and tumbled to eliminate sharp edges. They will not melt, degrade, or emit toxic fumes.
If you wish to minimize the use of the glass (reduce the cost):
(1) Installing Indoors with Natural Gas: Place sand under baffle plates and cover burner tubes, top with approximately 1" of glass
(2) Installing Outdoors with Natural Gas: Place volcanic ash under baffle plates and cover burner tubes, top with approximately 1" of glass.
(3) Installing Indoors or Outdoors with Propane Gas: Place volcanic ash under baffle plates and cover burner tubes, top with approximately 1" of glass.
